    Officer of The Order of St John

    The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem is an honour only bestowed upon deserving members who have demonstrated loyalty and service to the organisation. The order was incorporated by Royal Charter during the reign of Queen Victoria. From Serving Brother/Sister, volunteers can progress to Officer, Commander and ultimately Knight after a lifetime of dedication. St. John also recognizes bravery in the community by issuing Lifesaving Awards to deserving citizens. The Serving Brother is in nickel, with a wide plain watered black riband of 38mm.

    Australian Fire Service Medal

    Awarded to recognise distinguished service by members of Australian fire services. Recommendations are made by the responsible Minister in the Commonwealth and each State and Territory to the Governor-General for approval. Only one award is ever made to an individual and recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters "AFSM."

    Emergency Services Medal

    Australian Emergency Services Medal: Awarded for distinguished service by the men and women of Australia's emergency service organisations across the nation. Each Australian emergency service organisation may award one Emergency Service Medal for every 1000 full-time members or part of 1000 full-time members in every calender year; and in addition each ambulance service may award one Medal for every 5000 or part of 5000 part-time, volunteer or auxiliary members. Recommendations are made by the responsible Minister in the Commonwealth and each State and Territory, as defined in the Medal's regulations, to the Governor-General for approval. Only one award is ever made to an individual and recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters "ESM."

    St John Service Medal

    Service Medal of The Order of St. John: Awarded for twelve years of service to the St. John Ambulance organisation. Also, service in both the St. John Ambulance Brigade and the St. John Ambulance Association qualify and the two service times may be combined but only one may be counted per year. In England, the qualifying time is now twelve years instead of fifteen. A bar is awarded for each additional five years of service. The bars are of the slip-on type, silver, laurelled with a St. John Cross in the centre. After three silver bars are awarded, a gilt bar is worn (thirty-two years of service) and additional gilt bars are awarded for each five years. Once a gilt bar is awarded, only that gilt bars and subsequent gilt bars are worn.
