Clasp for the New Zealand Defence Service Medal: Available in antique brass, as sew-on clasps. Please be aware that many clasps may not be available in both full size and miniature. With older claps, quite often only one or the other size is available as a reproduction. Please Note: Be sure to select the NAME of the clasp or multiple clasps you require from the drop-down box in options.
Numeral 2: The number two, in nickel (for UN service) or antiqued brass (NATO service) for tours in excess of 180 days in-country. Note the numerals are for service periods of 180 days in succession - not the number of posted missions served in a particular location. The device is worn on both riband bar and court-mounted medal riband.
Available generally in nickel plate, however there are some bronze/brass clasps available depending on the relevant medal colour. Official clasp reproductions (sometimes erroneously referred to as bars) are available for all campaigns, awards and service periods. Please be aware that many clasps that are no longer issued or not yet authorised for reproduction (ie; current campaigns or service) may not be available in both full size and miniature. With older claps, quite often only full size is available as a reproduction.
