Phone Issues Sydney

August 31st, 2010

What is it with Telstra’s North Ryde exchange? Every couple or few months it seems they have ‘exchange issues’ of unknown origin, and indeterminate length and they have ‘no idea’ when their ‘issues’ will be resolved. Frustrating to say the least. The exchange has had this problem for just on 24 hours now. I wonder if we’ll get recompensed on our next bill? Perhaps I’ll start lining up pigs on the runway :-) !

We apologise in advance, however over the next few weeks our Sydney showroom will be closed from time to time due to staffing issues. If you’re planning on dropping in for a visit; it may be helpful to call first – 02 9878 6499.

Oh Happy Day! Not!!

August 17th, 2010

We’ve just had a new all-singing-all-dancing service and upgrade on our security and back-to-base alarm system. Now we don’t have a main phone line! I am fast approaching the point where my firm view that technology sucks!

Yep. We’ve called the security guru back to sort out whatever he’s done when he’s linked the phone line to the security base. We’ll keep you posted.

We apologise for any inconvenience this causes you. Fortunately the DSL line still works, so we can access email and the web – our preferred way of communication. especially at times like this!

Update: 1503hrs:

Eureka! All fixed!

Thanks for your patience. All appears back to normal (whatever that is!) and working OK.

But wait, there’s more!

July 27th, 2010

While the new site decided to do a bit of a song and dance today, we took some time to pore through some of the detail under the hood so to speak, and made some small but significant changes, based on some of the feedback we’ve had since the relaunch.

Firstly, we’ve expanded the major categories you can use to shop by, and made the categories listing in the header at the top of every page, into two lines, rather than just group everything into sub categories – we think that will make shopping for specific products easier. We’ve also expanded the site map and that’s a really handy tool for finding things.

Along the bottom of every page, is another list of handy links, for both products and medal-related information.

We’ve also noticed some weird postage estimates, because of weights involved, so we’ve taken out the box-cutter and slashed postage rates – within Australia you now have two flat-rate options – you can use the recommended registered mail (a signature is required for delivery) and a new Australia-wide, flat fee $5.95 rate. What’s the catch? Well, we’ve had lots of feedback asking for the option of a cheaper less-secure rate. With the $5.95 flat fee option, we cannot guarantee delivery – once we deliver to Australia Post at either North Ryde or Joondalup, you will need to assume the risk for any loss.  Your best bet is always registered mail – we’ve never lost a registered package in over ten years – but the cheaper, more-risky option is there for you if you’d like to use it.

Still more features and upgrades are planned over the coming weeks and months; stay tuned, and we appreciate you spreading the word!

I hate computers day!

July 27th, 2010

Regardless of how many tests, dry-runs, pre-deployment trials and a myriad of checks and balances, the web site that goes live is never the web site that stays live!

Some time overnight, despite not having changed anything that could cause it, the web site decided that it wasn’t going to play any more, tossing shopping carts around the car park and generally not playing nice. It took a few hours to find the bug and squash it! But that’s one down, and all seems to be well again.

Our apologies if you were at all inconvenienced while we were bug-catching, but sometimes it seems computer systems have a mind of their own. Our thanks to Kylie and Jamie for letting us know the problem existed.

Tracing it back it seems a software upgrade was the culprit, and poring through a few thousand lines of code, we found it OK. Thanks heaps for the feedback, and for your support guys!

The New Site!

July 3rd, 2010

Welcome to the new Heritage Medals web site! Our new design gives us more opportunity to feature our most exciting products and services front and centre. If you’re having trouble finding something specific, this FAQ will point you in the right direction. Our new site map will also help you out.

Most of the navigation links you’ll need to find your way around are arranged in several rows and columns at the bottom of every page on the web site. To get back to the home page, just click on the logo, top left of every page. If you’re looking for medal and research help, you’ll find the most popular of those links across the top of every page.

Please let us know what you think of our new design. We’ll be continuing to improve and update the rest of the web site in the coming weeks and months and would love to get your feedback. Just select the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of each page.

What happened to all the products in the left-hand navigation column?
It’s been simplified! You can now navigate by category when you click on the categories in the left column (or the top page links), each category you selct will automatically expand in the left column to show you all the sub-categories of interest. Medals for example, will expand and then are listed by campaign and time period.

Where are the news blog stories?
At the bottom of each page, in the first column of the links block where the social networks are listed. You’ll see a link for Facebook, Twitter, and an RSS feed for the news blog.

Are you still offering discounts for serving personnel?
Oh yes! Absolutely! We’ve actually increased the discounts available to serving ADF members and serving police officers. In addition we’ve increased the discounts on medal mounting to card-carrying members of recognised ESOs (ex-service organisations) like the RSL, TPI Assocation, and DVA card-holders.

How can I subscribe to Heritage Medals email alerts and newsletters?
Click on the Subscription banner ‘Join the Heritage Club’ near the top of every page. As a matter of fact, it’s the ONLY way you can access email alerts and newsletters that contain news, articles and discount offers for our customers. We hate spam more than most, so your account email address is NEVER used for any other purpose than to keep you up to date with your orders and shopping cart operations.

Where can I find detail of the new rewards program?
Click on the ‘Heritage Rewards Points’ link at bottom right of the page. Also next to each retail price of every product, is the amount of reward points you earn when you buy that product. When you accrue points you’ll find them in your account page and at checkout.

Why did you decide to change the web site?
Firstly, in its current form, it’s been online for almost ten years, and it was time for an interim overhaul. We wanted to give our web site a more contemporary look, and find some new ways to draw attention to our latest features, products and services, and provide better and more organised resources for our customers. There’s more in the wings.

We hope you like it!
