Star of Courage

Australian Star of Courage: For acts of conspicuous courage in circumstances of peril. It may be awarded posthumously. A silver seven pointed star, the surface of which is covered with many overlapping points, with superimposed Arms of the Commonwealth of Australia in the centre. The crown of St Edward forms a link to the riband suspender bar, on which is written 'FOR COURAGE'. Ribbon: Blood red with a magenta central stripe. A miniature star is attached to the riband when worn alone. A subsequent award is indicated by a bar having at its centre a representation of the Star. Instituted: 14 February 1975. Post-nominal letters: SC.
